Almost every title in this shop is in the public domain. Their copyright has expired, so the text belongs to everyone and anyone may copy, read, publish or sell it. That is why Nexa eBooks can offer these books: we are not licensing someone else's copyright, we are passing on a work that is already free for all of us.

Many of our files begin life with Project Gutenberg, the volunteer library that has digitised and proofread more than 79,000 public domain books since 1971. We are grateful to their transcribers, proofreaders and volunteers — without that patient, unpaid work these classics would not be readable on a phone at all. Project Gutenberg is an independent, non-profit effort; it does not endorse this shop, and we are not affiliated with it.

Project Gutenberg places no restrictions on public domain texts in countries where copyright has expired. Where a file carries the Project Gutenberg trademark or licence header, that header stays in the file and the licence travels with it. The text is free; the service is not. Our small price covers selecting and checking each edition, cover artwork, tidy metadata, hosting, secure payment, instant delivery to any device and support if a download fails. You may of course read the book without paying anyone, anywhere you find it.

We also take titles from other public domain libraries and archives, and we may offer works licensed directly from authors or publishers. Any such title is clearly ours to sell under that licence.
